Flying Tips

A few top tips before you fly. How to avoid Dehydration, DVT & Jet Lag

Never travel without comprehensive travel insurance. It's not too late to get covered : make savings of up to 10% by booking your travel insurance cover on line.

Avoid Dehydration

Drink plenty of water during the flight - dehydration is a common cause of headaches and discomfort. During the flight, don't sit still for long periods.

Avoid Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Try seated exercises if you can't get out of your seat to stretch your legs. Wearing flight socks or taking a low dose of aspirin can help prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Be alert to signs of Deep Vein Thrombosis DVT - if you have sore, swollen legs or pains in the chest, back or arms after flying seek medical advice.

Avoid Jet Lag

As soon as you're on board the plane, re-set your watch to the local time at your destination to help cope with jet-lag. To make your arrival less stressful, purchase a guidebook and plan where you will spend your first night (and how you will get there) now.

If you feel unwell at the airport at any time, please tell a member of airport or airline staff who will contact the airport duty manager. Further Information for at Gatwick Airport.
