Travel From Rome Airport

Rome's Ciampino Airport lies 15 kilometres to the southeast of Rome.

Buses from Rome Airport

There is a COTRAL bus to Anagnina metro station every thirty minutes. From there you can take metro Line A to Termini train station right in the city centre. The journey is easy but on the long side. Quicker is taking the same COTRAL bus to Ciampino train station and then a local train to Termini which runs every fifteen minutes.

Travel by Car

The journey takes around 40 minutes although this varies depending on traffic flow. Take the GRA ring-road at exit 23 and follow signs to the centre.

Travel by Taxi

A taxi rank is located outside the Arrivals Halls. The fare should cost around ,40 into town (a little more for the journey to the airport). Journey time is around 40 minutes (less at low traffic times). Taxi number: 06 3570.

Low Cost Cheap & Cheerful (Around a £10)

Formula Uno (Via degli Equi 13, San Lorenzo. Tel. 06 445 38 66). This is the real thing: delicious mozzarella melted on the pizzas and the fried baccala (salted cod) is excellent. Open in the evenings and closed on Sundays.

Around £20

Roscioli (Via dei Giubbonari 21. Tel. 06 687 52 87). This recently opened deli/restaurant has received rave reviews for its inventive food combinations.

Special Occasions

Margutta Vegetariano (Via Margutta 118, Centre. Tel. 06 3265 0557). One of Rome's oldest vegetarian eateries, Margutta Vegetariano offers contemporary Italian meatless cuisine.

Exclusive Restaurants

Dal Bolognese (Piazza del Popolo 1-2. Tel. 06 361 14 26). Serving up good quality staples to a loyal clientele of actors, film producers, assorted artists and celebrities who frequent the Dal Bolognese when they're in town.

Auditorium Parco della Musica (Viale de Coubertin 30, Flaminio. Tel. 06 802 411). Since opening a couple of years back, this auditorium has been wooing Romans with its perfect acoustics. The programme ranges from classical and jazz to soul and hiphop.

Nightspots Clubs Nightclubs

Bush (Via Galvani 46, Testaccio. Tel. 06 5728 8691). Come for the hi-tech decor, art-filled walls, big- screen monitors and house music. Sciam (Via del Pellegrino 56. Tel. 06 6830 8957). Middle Eastern dishes, sweets and tea plus a 2am closing time and aromatic narghile (bubble pipes) and you have an unusual must-go experience.

Places To Visit & See - Days Out - About Rome

Spend time in the city's former Jewish Ghetto, between Largo and Via Arenula and Piazza Venezia. It has an authentic neighbourhood feel and has many alternative dining options. Or try the best kosher pizza in Rome at Zi Fenizia (Via Santa Maria del Pianto 65).
