Travel From East Midlands Airport

Travel by Train East Midlands Airport

The rail stations at Derby, Loughborough, Long Eaton and Nottingham are all located just a short bus ride from the airport.

Buses from East Midlands Airport

Arriva, Trent and Barton, Flightlink and Nottingham City transport all run services to and from the airport. Tel. +44(0)870 608 2608.

Travel by Car

From Derby, take the A6 towards the M1, junction 24, and follow signs to the airport. From Nottingham, take the A52 westbound to the M1, junction 25, southbound, leaving at junction 24. From Leicester, take the A6 northbound and join the M1 northbound, leaving at junction 23A.

Harts (1 Standard Court, Nottingham NG1 6SN. Tel. 0115 911 0666). Housed in the former Accident & Emergency unit of the old General Hospital - but don't worry, you won't need it! One of Nottingham's smartest eateries, the general manager is ex- Buckingham Palace, no less.

The chef in charge of the Michelin-starred restaurant is a master craftsman who veers strongly towards seasonal menus. Regarded by top guide books as the best restaurant outside London.

Sumo (54 Braunstone Gate, Leicester. Tel. 0116 285 6536). A trendy three-level bar with a regular live music programme playing everything from hip-hop to blues and beats. The upstairs restaurant serves food all day so you can sit back and soak up the alcohol and the atmosphere.

Places To Visit & See - Days Out - About East Midlands

The world's largest collection of Grand Prix racing cars is on view at Donington Park in Nottingham. There are five halls, with more than 130 exhibits from last century to the present day: McLaren racing cars, Mansell's Williams, cars driven by Senna, Moss, Nuvolari, Clark and Prost, plus the world's largest collection of drivers' helmets - say no more!
