Travel From Bologna Airport

Travel by Taxi

Expect to pay between ,15-,16 for a taxi into the city centre, although fares will vary according to where you are going.

Travel by Car

The airport is located just 6km from the city centre. From the A14, take the Bologna-San Lazzaro exit onto the Bologna bypass. From the A13, take the Bologna-Arcoveggio onto the Bologna bypass and from the A1, take the Bologna-Casalecchio exit onto the bypass. From the Bologna bypass (tangenziale) drivers should take exit 4 and follow signs to the airport.

Buses from Bologna Airport

The Aerobus runs from Bologna Airport to the main station every 15 minutes.

Low Cost Cheap & Cheerful (Around a £10)

L'Antica Stuzzicheria (Via Mascarella 37/9. Tel. 051 242419). Calabrian osteria serving plates of traditional spicy meats and cheeses. Candlelight and great music create a great atmosphere in this little corner of southern Italy.

Around £20

Nicola's Piazza (San Martino, 9. Tel. 051 232502). A favourite with locals and tourists alike. The delicious pizzas are so huge they drape over the edge of the plate and the pasta dishes are very generous, too.

Special Occasions

Antica Trattoria Romagnola (Via Rialto 13. Tel. 051 263699). One of the oldest restaurants in Bologna dating back to the 1700s. The current owners have been running the place for 20 years and continue to do so with flair and creativity.

Al Pappagallo (Piazza della Mercanzia 3. Tel. 051 232807). Perfectly situated between the two towers and Piazza Santo Stefano. The place for a real treat.

Live Entertainment Music

Bar Wolf (Via Massarenti 118. Tel. 051342944). This down-to-earth pub just outside the city centre offers a full live music programme throughout the year and is one of the few pubs in Bologna with a no-smoking area.

Nightspots Clubs Nightclubs

Buca delle Campane (Via Benedetto 4a. Tel. 051220918). This lively bar in the heart of the university district often has live music and is known for its lively table-dancing clientele. Il Vicolo (Via Sampieri 3. Tel. 051224256). Bar and disco open until late with a wide range of music in the heart of the city centre. Their gay night on Fridays is legendary. Open Wednesdays to Saturdays.

Places To Visit & See - Days Out - About Bologna

As in most European cities, eager consumers are drawn to the shops during January to make the most of the post-Christmas sales. In Bologna bargains can be had for the whole month both in the high street stores along Via Indipendenza and the designer stores along Via Farini.
