Travel From Athens Airport

Travel by Car
Access to the airport is via Attiki Odos, where there is a ,1.80 toll. Average journey times are about 30 to 60 minutes from the city centre.
Travel by Bus or Coach
Two express buses serve the airport on a 24- hour basis: the E95 from Syntagma Square and the E96 from Karaiskaki Square in Piraeus. A third express bus, the E94, runs from Ethniki Amyna metro station to the airport between 6am and midnight. The ,2.90 ticket is valid for one journey to or from the airport, as well as unlimited journeys all day on all of Athens' public transport. An intercity bus from Rafina also serves the airport between 6am and 9.20pm.
Travel by Taxi
The airport is 33 kilometres from the city and fares to the city centre average around ,12-16 (plus the Attiki Odos toll and 0.50c for each item of luggage).

Low Cost Cheap & Cheerful (Around a £10)

Yo! Sushi (below) (Tsakalof 6, Kolonaki. Tel. 210 3600347). The trendy London chain with its hallmark stainless-steel conveyor belt has become the latest addition to a growing list of sushi bars in the city.
Special Occasions
Frame (Deinokratous 1, Dexameni Square, Kolonaki. Tel. 210 7214368). Good mood food with the signature of St George Lycabettus Hotel chef Marc Endeborg. The bar's also a favourite with the thirtysomething Athenian crowd.
Exclusive Restaurants
Varoulko (Deligiorgi 14, Piraeus. Tel. 210 4112043, 210 4221283). Excellent service and a creative menu with strong Mediterranean overtones have earned Lefteris Lazarou's restaurant one of the rare Michelin stars in Athens. Closed Sunday nights.

Mike's Irish Bar (Sinopis 6, Athens Tower, Ambelokipi. Tel. 210 7776797). Lively pub atmosphere with jam nights and karaoke on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Nightspots Clubs Nightclubs
Decadence (Voulgaroktonou 69 & Poulherias, Lofos Strefi. Tel. 210 8823544). One of the oldest clubs in the city with a steady pool of fiercely loyal fans. Alternative rock with frequent theme nights and parties. Mad (Dekeleon 12, Gazi. Tel. 210 3474604). Raising the beat in the low-key Gazi district, Mad occupies a five-storey building and has three dance stages, playing techno, alternative rock and pop. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Places To Visit & See - Days Out - About Athens
This is your last chance to visit the landmark Outlook International Modern Art Exhibition, (ends 25 January). With more than 85 artists contributing to the show, this is an important art event and certainly the most ambitious ever organised in Greece. The exhibition is split between three venues along Pireos Street: the Technopolis Centre (100), a section of the Benaki Museum (138 & Andronikou) and the Athens Fine Arts School Factory showroom (256). Don't miss it!
